South West runners looking to push themselves are being encouraged to nominate for the Busselton Runners Club’s Half Marathon.

The event also includes a 10km and a 5km fun run, with registrations for all three distances opening on Tuesday.

The annual event will be held on Saturday, February 13 — the same weekend as the 2021 Busselton Jetty Swim — creating a huge weekend for the region’s sporting community.

The half marathon is also popular among top athletes, with the flat and fast course and idyllic location attracting runners from around the State. “The Runners Club has taken the event to the next level since taking over the reins five years ago,” BRC’s Rose Williamson said.

“It is also a great opportunity for locals and first-time runners to take part in a local event.

“It is always inspiring to be cheered on by family and friends, as well as hearing lots of encouragement along the way from volunteers and spectators.

“Many teams from various clubs and groups from the South West enter each year, and the atmosphere is always electric.”

The half marathon will begin at 6am, with the 10km at 7am and the 5km fun run and walk at 8am.

Registrations can be completed online via busseltonrunnersclub.org.au.
