Fundraising for women’s cancer research is personal for Busselton’s Scott Robinson.

Mr Robinson lost his mother to cancer in 2017 and is raising money for the Harry Perkins Institute for Medical Research in her name.

Usually, the institute holds a major Hawaiian walk for women’s cancer.

But because of COVID-19, teams have been encouraged to do their own thing, and for Mr Robinson that meant trekking the 20km of the Cape to Cape route. Each year, walkers from across WA descend on Perth to walk 35km in the Hawaiian Walk for Women’s Cancer, raising $1 million for cancer research at the Harry Perkins Institute.

Jack in the Box director Mr Robinson recruited seven staff members to help commemorate his mother on the 20th anniversary of the family business.

“We lost Mum in 2017 to cancer, but her influence and presence is still felt within Jack in the Box,” he said.

“Her warm smile and sunny disposition was the first thing that greeted people when they came to the studio.

“That’s why we thought it would be a great and unique way to celebrate this milestone, to further fundraise in her honour.”

The team has committed to walking a combined 200km, to be completed between September 20 and 26.
