The ladies who lunch are back out in force, and this time it’s for a good cause.

With the social calendar vastly reduced since the the COVID-19 pandemic, a high tea at the Ritz may just be what the doctor ordered to bring back some fun and glamour to the city.

Luxury real estate agent and socialite Emma Milner, with the help of Taylor Morgan Creative, is throwing the first tea at the Ritz-Carlton to raise money for the Cancer Council WA.

Inspired by her mother Valerie’s battle with stage four metastatic lung cancer, Milner has called on friends in high places to round out an impressive guest list.

Julie Bishop, Rhonda and Sam Wyllie, Denise Satterley and publican Bree Maddox are all expected to attend.

The afternoon, named Puttin’ On the Ritz, at Hearth Restaurant will be held on Saturday, August 1 and will include free-flowing champagne, a silent auction, and a menu which includes Futari wagyu beef, strawberry gum scones, and chocolate and wattleseed choux.

“The event is going to be beautiful, educational and very special — August 1 is World Lung Cancer Day which is very special to me and my Mum as she is still undergoing treatment for her lung cancer,” Milner told AAA Weekend.

“We have divine acoustic singers on arrival, and Mel Marsh from Cancer Council WA and Dr Deb Cohen-Jones will speak about women’s preventative health and medicine.

“We also have an incredible Pippa McManus art piece to silent auction and a very full and impressive raffle.

Milner is blown away by the support from the community.

“The event sold out in five days, and we are still trying to expand and seat women as the requests for tickets since we sold out are still coming in — we are trying to accommodate as many as we can,” Milner said.
