Cleo Smith has received a special house call from one of her biggest fans.

Premier Mark McGowan touched down in Carnarvon on Thursday morning before heading to where the family is staying.

He was seen carrying a police teddy bear as he entered the house, where he shook the hand of proud step-dad Jake Gliddon.

Mr McGowan was flanked by Police Minister Paul Papalia and top cops Det-Supt Rod Wilde and Det. Sen. Sgt Cameron Blaine.

He spent just under an hour in the family home with little Cleo, saying it was “really nice” to meet the four-year-old girl with the smile that stopped the nation.

Surrounded by his security team, as he left the home where the family is staying he said “they’re lovely people.”

Cleo was tucked into bed by elated mother Ellie Smith for the first time in almost three weeks after her dramatic rescue in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Celebration erupted worldwide after a photo was released of a smiling Cleo eating an icy pole in hospital after being reunited with her family.

All are eager to learn more about what happened during those 18 days she was missing, but WA Police acting Commissioner Col Blanch said interviewing Cleo would be a delicate task.

“We just have to do it in the most careful and caring way with a lot of support around her at the time,” he told Sunrise.

“We don’t want to cause more distress to Cleo…that is the last thing police would ever want to do.”
