A man was left with serious injuries following a violent stabbing at a Joondalup shopping centre on Saturday.

A fight broke out at the food court at Lakeside Joondalup about 4.10pm.

Police say one of the individuals pulled a knife and a man in his 20s sustained an injury consistent with a stab wound.

The man was taken to Royal Perth Hospital by St John WA for treatment.

A video of the victim being wheeled out by paramedics posted on social media shows him smiling and using his phone.

Meanwhile, terrified witnesses to the attack say they “shoved” their kids under the table to keep them safe.

A police spokesperson said this was an isolated incident.

“Police understand incidents of this nature can cause concern within the community,” they added.

“However, this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

“Officers will continue to maintain a visible presence in the area as inquiries continue.”

It is believed the pair were known to each other.
