Detectives are appealing for dash-cam footage as they continue to probe the alleged murder of a 58-year-old man in Perth’s north.

University student Santosh Kumar Boojhawon was charged over the alleged murder of Richard Bezant after allegedly stabbing him in the neck on Dimitrios Court, in Hocking, about 6.45am on Tuesday.

Mr Bezant was rushed to Joondalup Health Campus, but he could not be saved.

Both men were known to each other.

Police on Thursday said they were calling on the public to submit dash-cam footage that captured any vehicles travelling north and southbound on Wanneroo Road, in Wanneroo, between Ocean Reef Road and Dundebar Road, between 6.15am and 7am on Tuesday.

Mr Boojhawon fronted Joondalup Magistrates Court on Wednesday where he was remanded in custody.

His locked Instagram profile says he is originally from Mauritius and had pursued studies at Curtin University.

The 27-year-old will face Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on October 29.

The cul-de-sac was cordoned off by police on Tuesday, with detectives and forensics in blue jumpsuits seen outside a home near Wanneroo Road.

Forensics appeared to be focusing on an area around a caravan parked near the front of the property.

Hocking local Simone — who didn’t want her surname used — said she watched paramedics rush Mr Bezant into an ambulance.

“We knew something happened but we weren’t sure ... we saw him get raced off,” she told The West on Tuesday.

“I’ve had about 25 people call me because they know we live in a cul-de-sac.

“It’s just sad.”
