A 23-year-old woman has been charged with speeding away from police before continuing along a train line and crashing her four-wheel-drive into a power pole.

Police allege they first tried to stop the Nissan Patrol on Albany Highway in St James about 10.20pm on Friday but the woman failed to stop and drove recklessly through a number of suburban streets before entering a train line at Welshpool Road and Sevenoaks Street.

It is further alleged the driver continued down the train line before losing control of the vehicle and slamming into a power pole.

The driver and a passenger were removed from the vehicle and arrested.

The woman was charged with reckless driving to escape police, driving without a licence, reckless driving, criminal damage and possessing cannabis.
