Motorbike rider dies after colliding with rubbish truck on Mitchell Freeway in Greenwood on Tuesday

A motorcyclist has died after colliding with a rubbish truck on Mitchell Freeway on Tuesday morning.
The man, aged 30, was transferred by St John Ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital at 6.43am where he later died from his injuries, WA Police confirmed.
His black Yamaha motorcycle and a white Volvo truck were both travelling south on the Mitchell Freeway in Greenwood when the vehicles crashed about 5.50am.
The 52-year-old female driver of the truck was uninjured.
The crash closed the road for about two hours, with traffic heavy in the area.
Photos of the aftermath show police markings on the road around the rubbish truck and motorbike, and debris scattered across the bitumen.

Janette Patterson, a driver caught in the traffic, said the early-morning crash was confronting.
“Any accident is confronting but as a rider myself, this was particularly so,” Ms Patterson said.
“You could see that someone was being worked on on the road, which told me they had to stabilise the rider before they could move them.
“This is always upsetting because you know it is serious.”
Ms Patterson was held up for about half an hour — but was more concerned about the motorcyclist and his loved ones.
“I was stuck for at least 35 minutes while they worked on the injured party,” she said.
“It seemed they could not move him.
“The traffic was horrendous but for all of us stuck there, it was a very minor inconvenience.”
A spokesperson for Veolia, who owns the truck involved, offered their condolences.
“Our thoughts are with the motorcyclist and their family, as well as our driver who is understandably shaken by the incident. We have offered our driver support through our leadership team and Employee Assistance Program,” they said.
“The safety of the public and our drivers remains our paramount concern and we will fully cooperate with any investigation into the event.”
Major Crash investigators are conducting an examination of the scene and are appealing for any witnesses to report to Crime Stoppers online here or by calling 1800 333 000.
They are also asking for dash cam and mobile phone vision relating to the crash.
