More schools taught wrong topic for year 12 exams
WHAT HAPPENED?
Nine schools across Queensland have discovered they were teaching year 12 students the wrong ancient history unit. Instead of Julius Caesar, about 140 students were studying Emperor Augustus Caesar
WHO IS AFFECTED?
About 140 students across the state were impacted at Brisbane State High School, Flagstone State Community College, Meridan State College, Redcliffe State High School, Yeronga State High School, St Teresa's Catholic College, West Moreton Anglican College, James Nash State High School and Kuranda District State College
WHEN DID THEY FIND OUT?
Brisbane State High School realised on Monday that year 12 ancient history students had been taught about Augustus rather than Julius Caesar ahead of Wednesday's final exams and issued an apology
Another seven schools were confirmed by late Monday with the Queensland government confirming the total had risen to nine by Tuesday morning
WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR THE STUDENTS?
Students can choose not to sit the exam which makes up 25 per cent of the overall grade. A "fair" overall result for the student will be calculated by statistical analysis, using the 75 per cent of the work they have already completed
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
The Queensland government has launched an investigation, assessing the resources and planning provided by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority
