In response to our fast and ever-changing world, UWA is changing too. Their innovative new offering will ensure graduates achieve their career goals with more hands-on learning and in-demand knowledge than ever before.

More bachelor options than ever

Previously, UWA undergraduate students could choose between a Bachelor of Arts, Commerce, Science, Biomedical Science or Philosophy (Honours).

  • Bachelor of Automation and Robotics
  • Bachelor of Music
  • Bachelor of Philosophy, Politics and Economics

Each of the bachelor’s have been built to respond to industry demand, and give students practical, job-relevant skills for the modern workplace.

More accelerated pathways to master’s degrees

2021 will also see the introduction of new Combined Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees (CBM), a four-year accelerated program for high performing students. CBMs will save students time and fees, and will get them into a professional career sooner.

Students complete a double-major in their chosen field over the first three years, including a semester of more advanced study. Then, they finish up with a year at postgraduate level, and graduate with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s qualification. They may also exit the program early after three years with an advanced bachelor’s degree in the study area of their double major.

These new CBM courses for 2021 include:

  • Agribusiness
  • Agricultural Economics
  • Agricultural Science
  • Biochemistry of Nutrition
  • Biological Science
  • Biotechnology
  • Earth and Marine Science
  • Economics
  • Environmental Science
  • Marine Science

More entry pathways

In March, UWA also adapted their entry options to address the concerns of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, offering places based on a student’s predicted ATAR score from the end of Year 11 or 12 if available.* Students may also still apply with their final ATAR, the same as previous years.

Students who are taking fewer than four ATAR subjects (or none at all) and/or completing VET qualifications can now apply via the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) entry pathway.

For more information about what’s new at UWA in 2021, visit uwa.edu.au/study/atar.

*Students may use the predicted ATAR pathway to apply for admission to any of UWA’s undergraduate degrees, as well as their Direct Pathways to Engineering, Law, Teaching, Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Translation Studies. The Predicted ATAR entry pathway is not applicable for Direct Pathways to Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Podiatry, or the undergraduate Medical Sciences major.
