The hill at the WACA Ground in Perth will be renamed the “Healy Hill” for next month’s Test against India to honour retiring legend Alyssa Healy’s final game for Australia.

The announcement comes exactly one month before Australia takes on India in the first day-night Test at the venue, with the multi-format series getting under way at the SCG next Sunday with the first of three T20s.

Healy has played 295 matches for her country and has led the Aussies brilliantly as captain, but this will be her last hurrah after announcing that she will call stumps on a glittering career.

Cricket Australia wants the hill in Perth packed with fans to help celebrate one of the country’s greatest cricketers.

“The upcoming NRMA Insurance multi-format series against India will be a fantastic contest between two powerhouse teams in cricket, and we’re looking forward to celebrating captain Alyssa Healy as she plays her final matches for Australia across the ODIs and Test match,” Cricket Australia executive general manager events and operations Joel Morrison said.

“In Perth, the addition of the Healy Hill, presented by Westpac, will give fans an opportunity to enjoy the fun atmosphere of a day-night Test in one of cricket’s great traditions: watching the game from the hill.

“We’re looking forward to playing the first official game at the venue following its completed redevelopment and seeing the hill full of fans across the Test.”

Meanwhile, young gun Phoebe Litchfield is racing the clock to be fit for next Sunday’s opening match after her Women’s Premier League campaign was cut short by a quad injury.

Litchfield had been in fine form for the UP Warriorz but missed their final few games, with the gifted batter hoping to be cleared in time for the February 15 clash in Sydney.

“It was just a little niggle overseas which was unfortunate, especially because we needed to win those last couple of games for the UP Warriorz, so it was devastating to leave early,” she said.

“We took the cautious approach knowing what’s coming up and how important this series is for us girls.

“I’m on track for the game, hopefully.”
