Badimia on Country and Seven Forms (Geraldton ‘26) exhibitions to open at Geraldton Regional Art Gallery

Two standout exhibitions — Badimia on Country and Seven Forms (Geraldton ‘26) — are next in line to be showcased in all their visual storytelling glory at Geraldton Regional Art Gallery this autumn. The Badimia on Country exhibition, which consists of work by artists from Mount Magnet’s Wirnda Barna Art Centre, shares stories of relationships to Country, history and kindship, highlighting the enduring strength and creativity of Badimia people. The second display, Seven Forms (Geraldton ’26), will show off new work by WA artists Susanna Castleden, Monika Lukowska-Appel, Melanie McKee, Alana McVeigh, Layli Rakhsha, Sarah Robinson and Sue Starcken. These artists have created pieces inspired by local sites, exploring how people use natural elements such as water, wind and sunlight, and what that means for the Mid West as the climate continues to change. City of Greater Geraldton mayor Jerry Clune said both exhibitions offered powerful perspectives the whole community could appreciate. “Our gallery is uniquely placed to present stories and perspectives from our region,” he said. “This display brings together living Aboriginal culture and contemporary art that responds to our surroundings. “I encourage everyone to see and experience these exhibitions firsthand and connect with the stories they share.” The exhibitions will be on display from Saturday, April 18 to Sunday, June 21.
