The Community Bank Geraldton GNFL hits the road again, with both of this weekend’s encounters happening out of town with Chapman Valley hosting Towns, while Rovers head out to Mullewa.

Rovers look dangerous and have produced one of the season’s major storylines so far, after snagging a huge five-point win over reigning premiers Brigades last weekend — a sign of their rapid improvement.

Last time Mullewa and Rovers met, the Demons won 22.11 (143) to 13.5 (83) and they have only gotten stronger since the round two bout.

Rovers have brought more class into the side, with Tom Denton and Chris Scott returning in round three, while Clay Azevedo, Jason Daniels and Kane Simpson have made strong early impressions.

Jaimon Alone remains unavailable due to injury and is eyeing off a mid-June return.

While Rovers are undefeated, Mullewa are still searching for their first win and occupy bottom spot on the ladder.

The Saints have shown flashes, winning quarters against top sides — and did so against Rovers in round one in which they outscored them 4.2 (26) to 2.2 (14) in the final term.

They should take confidence from their first quarter against Railways last weekend, when they established a 5.3 (33) to 4.2 (26) lead before running out of gas and slumping to a 144-point defeat.

If Mullewa can piece together a four-quarter effort, they should do well to challenge top sides in the future.

In Saturday’s other fixture, the Big Freeze may be in town, but the footy action is heating up with Chapman Valley hosting Towns for four blockbusters at Mazzuchelli Oval.

Across all four divisions, each side is closely matched, with this weekend shaping up to be must-wins for both clubs.

Towns’ women will be hunting vengeance for last season’s grand final heartbreak, while Chapman Valley has brought in the big guns with former AFLW superstar Ebony Antonio suiting up for the Royals who hope to maintain their 18-game winning streak.

In the men’s league, Chapman Valley have jumped up to fourth on the ladder after nabbing their first win of 2026 against Northampton last weekend.

Chapman Valley also gained another four points after the result from their match against Brigades a fortnight ago was overturned due to an administrative error earlier this week.

Meanwhile, Towns are looking to add another win to their season total, sitting just below their rivals in fifth place.

Towns like second halves and have outscored their opponents — including Railways and Rovers — 12.15 (87) to 8.17 (65) after half-time in their first three games.

If they can emulate their second half performances in the first, Towns should be an almighty headache for the home side.

Brigades, Northampton and Railways have the weekend off, with the Rovers women’s team also taking a bye.

The league games kick-off at 2.30pm.
