With this year’s Midwest Charity Begins at Home annual gala on pause, the local organisation is still aiming to hold an impactful event for the region to help families in need.
This year the charity’s planned silent auction is set to be its major fundraising event for 2026, to raise money and help Mid West families facing serious illness and hardship.
The Mitchell and Brown Midwest Charity Begins at Home online silent auction will open its bidding on Friday, August 7, and close two weeks later on Friday, August 21.
The online auction is set to feature a range of items donated by local businesses and supporters.
MWCBAH board member Andrew Horstman said every bid placed was more than just a chance to win an item — it was an opportunity to directly support Mid West families facing tough challenges.
“The generosity of our community allows us to provide practical financial support to local people facing serious illness and financial hardship,” he said.
“It is amazing to see so many people getting behind the cause.”
Mr Horstman said the charity was grateful for the ongoing support it receives across the Mid Wet community as it closed in on its 20-year anniversary of helping and donating to families in need next year.
“Our auction is also a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness of Midwest Charity Begins at Home and the work we do across the region,” he said.
“If you’re a business or individual who’d like to learn more about the charity or find out how you can support our work, we’d love to hear from you.”
The charity said sponsorship opportunities for the upcoming online silent auction remained open.
“Behind every sponsorship is hope. Behind every bid is a story. Together, we can make a real difference — right here at home.”
