Geraldton is set to host a cruise ship for two consecutive days for the first time.

As part of a last-minute inclusion to the cruise calendar, P&O cruises’ Pacific Explorer will dock at the port on Saturday morning, before heading out to sea for the evening and returning to the dock on Sunday.

The three-night cruise will return to Fremantle on Sunday evening.

A welcome hub in Geraldton will be operating on both days, between Regional Sounds and the Geraldton Yacht Club.

This cruise has a comedy focus, with celebrity comedians featured in the past on similar voyages including Jimeoin, Dave Hughes and Peter Rowsthorn.

City of Greater Geraldton deputy mayor Natasha Colliver said it was a great time of year for passengers to visit.

“The timing of this visit is fantastic as the passengers and crew will be able to soak up the weekend atmosphere of our foreshore and CBD as well as the ever-popular Platform Markets,” she said.

“A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful cruise ship volunteers and key stakeholders as well as our partners Mid West Ports Authority and Euphorium for all their hard work in continually delivering such a brilliant experience to our cruise guests.

“I look forward to seeing this latest group of visitors at the weekend as they enjoy the best of the Mid West.”
