Kojonup locals and visitors have the chance to snap up the works of the town’s talented photographers at the Bloom Festival Creative Exhibition, which opened at Koja Place last week.

As well as introducing the photographs from those established in the medium, the exhibition also showcases the work of aspiring young snappers — the youngest of who is only five — who have contributed some great shots.

The theme of the event is Through Local Eyes, aiming to be a celebration of all things rural and focusing mainly on Kojonup and surrounding area.

Many are on sale and a selection of mounted prints can be purchased from $10 to $50 with framed pictures on sale from $120 to $575.

Featured artists include Fi Goodall, Dawn Henderson, Lee Jackson, Colin Thorne, Marie Lowery, Emily Stretch and Anna Skowronska.

Jill Watkin, the Shire of Kojonup’s heritage and tourism curator, said the exhibition was a great opportunity for local photographers.

“It’s clear we have a pipeline of talent coming through in our community,” she said.

“It is very important to give all local artists the opportunity and platform to showcase their talent as well as supporting younger members of our community to give them confidence in their own abilities.

“It’s the first time many of our featured photographers have taken part and if you visit the exhibition you will discover why people are enjoying and talking about the artwork so much.”

The exhibition is at the Koja Place’s Linear Gallery and Storyplace and runs until October 31. It’s open Monday to Friday from 9am-4pm and from 10am-3pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
