Game, set and match as Katanning Tennis Club’s junior twilight tournament attracts more than 90 junior players

More than 90 young tennis players took to the court for the annual junior twilight doubles event at the Katanning Tennis Club, with many playing in a tournament for the first time.
There was an influx of novices for the event on November 15, with players allocated into four pools for a fun round robin.
Corbyn Trevenen and John Van Bloomstein were winners of the sportsmanship award.
Alexis Webster and Zaeli Green won the girls’ 10 and under event from Olivia Obst and Bella McRoberts while the boys’ event went to Taj Wells and Tyler Milne who topped Patrick Eyres and Angus Thorn.
Maggie and Lillian O’Meehan combined to take the girls’ 12 and under crown with Lesley Flowers and Emily Crosby runners-up.

In the boys’ 12 and under section, Taj Mott and Hudson Justins were pipped by Damien Chambers and Theo Bignell.
The under-15’s played a mixed event, with Alice Bushell and Adahna Wells overcoming Taj and Jacob Trevenen to take the title.
Organiser Cathy Chambers thanked the sponsors and parents of Katanning Tennis Club for their help on the day and for their donations of food and raffle prizes.
She said 97 players had taken part.
“For many players it was their first time playing in a tournament so it was fantastic to see so many of them giving it a go,” she said.
