Another double-round week firmed up the top four slots in the Katanning Netball Association’s A-grade competition, with the top three sides shining in the four games.

Allstars, Kojonup, Olympians and Dumbleyung sit as the competition’s top four, with Dumbleyung six points above the fifth-placed Cardinals Force with only one round left to play before finals begin.

Olympians fought hard for a close win over Cardinals Force on August 11, holding on to an early lead to take the win.

A hot first quarter saw Olympians lead by seven goals at the first change, but Cardinals fought back in the second, adding 14 goals to their haul to catch the leaders.

Cardinals shooter Addison O’Neill netted a goal in the final seconds of play to put Cardinals one goal ahead, setting up a goal-for-goal fight in the second half.

By the end of the third term the two sides were still only separated by one goal, but Olympians put in a stellar final quarter to snatch the win 46-43.

Top side Allstars defeated Kojonup in a rematch of last season’s grand final, staying consistent to build their lead each quarter and walk off 66-43 winners.

In the season’s penultimate round on Saturday, Kojonup got back on their feet, notching a confident win over Dumbleyung.

Kojonup managed some crucial turnovers in the final minutes of the first quarter to give themselves a two-goal advantage, and added 12 goals in the second to widen the margin.

They kept the momentum through the second half, coming away 46-27 winners.

Allstars recorded their second win for the week against Olympians, overcoming a slower start with a fierce second half to record a 16-goal victory, with final scores at 63-47.

In the A-reserves competition, Olympians narrowly defeated Broomehill 47-42 in round 14, while Allstars crushed Kojonup 50-22.

On Saturday, Olympians recorded a second victory for the week over Allstars, walking off winners 49-47 as Broomehill pushed through to claim the win over Kojonup by a slim two-goal margin.

Kojonup and Kia Ora defeated Dumbleyung and Cardinals Fever, respectively in their round 14 clashes in the B-grade competition.

In round 15, Kia Ora defeated Dumbleyung 63-42, while Cardinals Fever went down 51-23 to Olympians.

The C-grade competition saw Olympians record a 17-goal victory over Kia Ora, and Allstars stay ahead of Cardinals Phoenix by just two goals in round 14.

However, Cardinals Phoenix came back with a win in round 15 over Olympians, with final scores at 26-21 while Allstars claimed their second win of the week with a crushing 68-21 victory over Kia Ora.
