Australind Soccer Club kicks off 2023 season with strong showings against Bunbury United and Eaton-Dardanup

Australind Soccer Club kicked off its 2023 campaign on a drizzly and cool April day across the South West.

The women’s Premier team began the day with a win, defeating Bunbury United 3-0 with the help of a cracking hat-trick from Rocky Hammond.

The men’s division one team also came away with a win against Eaton-Dardanup, with yet another hat-trick, this time from Shane McGirr, sealing a hard fought 3-2 victory.

Australind got another three points on the board from the men’s reserves, with goals from Dylan Doney, Jesse Jordan and a brace from Jack Miller, securing their 4-0 win over Bunbury United.

The final game of the day saw the points shared for the men’s Premier team, with a heated clash against Bunbury United resulting in 2-2 final scorecard. Goals from Michael Farmer and Kyle Napier in the second half secured vital point on the road.

Captain Gareth Harker celebrated a major milestone, reaching 100 games for Australind.

Next week is a bye for all of the Australind teams, who have progressed through to the quarter finals of the Pioneer Cup.

Australind’s next home games are on Sunday April 28 at The Crab Net at Leschenault Recreation Park.
