The Brunswick River Cottages’ “lease for life” complex is nearing completion and expected to be finished before the end of June.

The committee is seeking expressions of interest from people who would like to lease the properties and become part of the Brunswick community.

The cottages, which sit beside the Brunswick River, are available to people who are over 55 years of age.

Cottages vice-chairwoman Joanne Norton said she was looking forward to the grand opening after a lengthy planning process.

“The new complexes will be so beneficial to the community of Brunswick,” Mrs Norton said.

“It is important to give older Brunswick residents the option to downsize and stay in town.

“However, it is also great for people who would like to return to Brunswick,” she said.

Mrs Norton said they had received a lot of interest from people in like-minded country towns who were looking at moving to a place with amenities nearby. “There are even people in the Wheatbelt who are looking at relocating to Brunswick,” she said.

“Our model is really unique as we will encourage our residents to be part of the Brunswick community.

“They can play bowls and join the fantastic community and social groups that already exist in Brunswick, we don’t have our own secluded facilities.”
