Nine South West brigades deployed to tackle Leschenault bushfire

South West fire fighters have banded together to tackle a Leschenault bushfire, which has caused road closures near Old Coat Road and Marine Drive.

Around 19 vehicles attended the scene. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said the fire was burning in the area of Old Coast Road, Marine Drive, Windward Road, Heritage Close, Talia Court and Roberts Road in Leschenault.

DFES said brigade members were still tackling the two-hectare bush fire and had closed off roads along Old Coast Road and Marine Drive.

Members and firefighters from brigades in Leschenault, Bunbury, Australind, Eaton, Binningup, Myalup, Burekup, Dardanup and Ferguson Valley have attended the scene.

A warning was issued to residents at 10.53am on Tuesday, with information on road closures and fire safety measures in place. It is unknown what caused the blaze.
