Numbers add up for Treendale maths champs
As the school year winds down and students get ready to graduate, two Treendale Primary School teachers celebrated their own graduation from the inaugural Alcoa Champions of Maths Program last week.
Year 5 teacher Lisa Tatham and Year 6 teacher Kate Archibald took part in the year-long program run through Scitech, which aimed to coach primary school teachers from Greater Bunbury.
The graduation event, held at the Leschenault Pavilion, was hosted by maths comedian and numeracy ambassador Simon Pampena, who ran a workshop on the night.
The 60 students who took part in the program also showed families and friends what they had learnt from their teachers.
Year 5 teacher Lisa Tatham said she signed up for the program to help her students deepen their understanding of maths and improve their problem solving skills. Year 6 teacher Kate Archibald said her students were more willing to tackle challenges with a positive attitude.
