South West Academy of Sport’s annual Albemarle Fun Run set for Saturday, March 19
People young and old are being encouraged to lace up their sneakers on Saturday for the South West Academy of Sport’s annual Albemarle Fun Run in Australind.
SWAS said this year’s event would be one the whole family could participate in, with the introduction of a special 2km category for youngsters alongside the 10km run, 5km run or 5km walk for junior and senior runners to choose from.
The academy said the new junior 2km category gave school-aged children the opportunity to experience the thrill of participating in a fun run, with the school with the most entrants on the day to receive a cash and technology prize.
SWAS said now was the time to register for the popular annual event, which is set to take place along the picturesque Ridley Place Foreshore Park in Australind.
SWAS chief executive officer Bernice Butlion encouraged community members of all ages and abilities to have a go at participating in a fun run.
“Get behind this family-friendly community event – come along and have a good morning out,” Mr Butlion said.
Every finisher in the event will receive a medal, and there are cash prizes for category winners along with lucky draw prizes for participants.
Prams are welcome and late entries will be accepted on the day of the event via cashless payments.
