Students at the South Regional TAFE Harvey campus have welcomed the return to classes in what will be an unusual end to Semester One.

While some courses have continued to be taught on campus, others have switched to online or “blended learning” methods for Term 2.

Harvey campus student Carly Pergoliti has embraced the online learning approach to her course, Certificate III in Individual Support, which has meant she can continue her studies despite the restrictions in place due to COVID-19.

“Everyone has been great,” Mrs Pergoliti said.

“I got so much support before all this happened and I get even more now.”

The mother of two, who has been keeping her children home from school for now, has found a balance between her own studies while also teaching her kids.

“I can be at home, so it made sense for us as a family to keep them home for now,” Mrs Pergoliti said.

“The school has made it really easy to follow the lessons and I have time in the evenings to work on my own studies.”

South Regional TAFE managing director Sue Lapham said she had been impressed with the positive reaction from students using blended learning, with many course components now being taught online.

“Our lecturers have worked hard to promote a smooth transition and make resources available to students while supporting them through the challenges of a new study mode,” Ms Lapham said.

“As the COVID-19 situation evolves, students will be kept informed of any changes impacting their study and support will be given.”
