Where to pay your respects in Harvey
April 25 looked a little different last year, with no traditional dawn service or mid-morning march taking place for the first time since World War II.
The Anzac Day services are an opportunity for communities and families to come together and remember those who served and sacrificed.
Even though the successes of last Anzac Day were something to admire, there will be more than intermittent wreath laying and driveway tributes, with a dawn service and march as well as a sausage sizzle taking place in the centre of Harvey this year.
Harvey RSL president Eric Hall and member Kevin Reale said everyone was welcome and they encouraged people of all ages to come and keep the tributes and commemoration alive.
RSL secretary Trish Rumball said it marked the perfect occasion for the community to reflect.
It’s to pay respects to the ones that gave their lives and even the ones who took the troubles of war home with them,
RSL member Dave Best said he would not miss an Anzac day.
“We don’t have anything like this in England, except Remembrance Day and that’s nothing compared to this, this is personal,” he said.
