Bank staff support charity

Bunbury Herald

Bunbury Commonwealth Bank was full of bright colours and delicious smells on Friday as the staff raised money for Clown Doctors.

Staff at the branch dressed up colourfully — as clowns in some cases — and also held a sausage sizzle to raise money for the cause.

Clown Doctors is a service that provides humour and entertainment to children in hospital to brighten up their stays while they are treated.

Bunbury Commonwealth Bank assistant branch manager Cheryle Hewson said the branch had been helping to raise money for Clown Doctors for 14 years.

“On Friday, all the South West Commonwealth Bank branches held an event to raise funds for Clown Doctors,” she said.

“We’re proud to be a part of this.

“For children in hospital, Clown Doctors are about their wellbeing, it makes the experience of being in hospital less traumatic.”

The Bunbury Commonwealth Bank branch also has a staff fundraising fund where employees can volunteer to donate some of their pay to charities the bank supports, including Clown Doctors.

Mrs Hewson said Friday’s fundraising venture was a way to involve the community in what they were doing.
