Before last Sunday’s highly anticipated clash between Boyup Brook and Deanmill at Boyup Brook Oval, the visitors were unbeaten on top of the ladder.

However the Roos, riding high for several weeks, emphatically ended the league leaders’ unbeaten streak, 8.10 (58) to 6.10 (46).

The home side overcame a 14-point half-time deficit, with Seaton Thompson, Luke Reilly leading by example. In addition, the forward presence of Mathew Michael (four goals) and Angus Campbell also proved challenging for the Deanmill defence.

Aside from gaining a massive psychological boost before the finals series, the victory has boosted the Roos’ hopes of a prized top-two finish.

As it stands, the Roos are in second spot, ahead of Bridgetown on percentage.

The Bulldogs had some nervy moments in their match against Southerners, eventually getting up 11.10 (76) to 11.9 (75) at Pemberton Oval.

After spotting the home side a 17-point quarter-time lead, Bridgetown fought back, with Brett Wilson (six goals) and Kyle Wilson playing a big role in getting them back in the game.

In the remaining game of the round, Kojonup — who were held goalless a week earlier against Deanmill on the road — went from boiled lollies to chocolates, defeating Imperials 15.17 (107) to 11.13 (79) at home.

Deanmill will have an opportunity to turn things around this Saturday when they travel to Pemberton Oval and tackle Southerners, while Boyup Brook host Imperials.

On Sunday, top-two chasing Bridgetown can do their percentage a massive favour when they travel to Rea Park and square off against the winless Tigers.
