Mid West, Gascoyne initiatives benefit from $50k in new round of Horizon Power Community Partnerships Program

Nine community events and initiatives in the Mid West and Gascoyne have received a powerful boost, sharing in a $50,000 funding injection. Thanks to the latest round of Horizon Power’s Community Partnerships Program, 60 community organisations across WA will benefit from almost $545,000. The State Government, through this program, allocates $1.1 million each financial year to initiatives and events supporting health and wellbeing across Horizon Power’s service area. The program has invested more than $5.5m across more than 620 initiatives in regional and remote WA since 2020. The support of these events is helping to attract more visitors to the regions, providing a boost to local economies. Successful applicants in this new round in the Mid West and Gascoyne include Carnarvon Fishing Club for the 2026 Carna-Fin Fishing Competition, Carnarvon Heritage Group for an audiovisual display at the Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage, Exmouth Basketball Association for club uniforms for regional championships, Meekatharra Community Resource Centre for an art gallery upgrade, Perth Symphony Orchestra to bring music to Carnarvon and the Shire of Mount Magnet for its Community Christmas Festival. Other local beneficiaries include Exmouth Touch Rugby , Geraldton Sporting Aboriginal Corporation and St John WA. Energy and Decarbonisation Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson said the Government was keen to partner with initiatives across WA that foster vibrant and thriving communities. “This program is driving local growth, health, and wellbeing and supporting sustainable communities across Western Australia,” she said. Horizon Power acting CEO Krystal Skinner added: “From mobile cancer screening and innovative AI technology improving children’s hearing in the bush, to support for victims of family and domestic violence, our program is supporting healthier, safer, and more connected communities.” Applications for Horizon Power’s next round of Community Partnerships grants open on February 2 next year.
