Popanyinning crash: Man airlifted to Perth with serious injuries, after crashing ute and becoming trapped

A man has been airlifted to Perth with serious injuries after becoming trapped when the ute he was in crashed in Popanyinning, north of Narrogin. Emergency services responded to a triple-zero call about 11.30pm on Friday reporting a car crash on Popanyinning West Road near the intersection of Fire Range Road. Volunteers from Pingelly State Emergency Service, and Narrogin and Pingelly Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene to find a dual-cab ute on its side. The crews extracted the two occupants, a man and woman both in their 40s, who were taken via ambulance to Narrogin Hospital. A St John WA spokesperson said the man was flown to Royal Perth Hospital via the RAC rescue helicopter due to the severity of his injuries on Saturday morning. The woman is believed to be less seriously injured.
