Residents were forced to flee after a fire broke out in a Perth home on Wednesday morning, with emergency crews attending the blaze.
The home on Alma Place in Beldon, in the Joondalup council area, went up in flames just before 6am on Wednesday.
A man in his 50s and a woman in her 80s have been taken to Joondalup hospital with minor injuries.
Five fire units responded to the blaze at the single-story home, which was extinguished by 7am.
The roof above one room of the house was completely destroyed and according to witnesses, there was ‘not much left’ of the house internally.
A resident in the neighbouring home said she heard two bangs that “shook the house” at about 6am followed by yelling.
“I just thought they were having an argument,” she told PerthNow.
Worried the flames would spread and set the trees on her property alight, she went to her back yard and began hosing them down.
As smoke lingered, her concern grew but was soon alleviated when fire trucks began to arrive.
“I knew they had it under control, so I felt okay after that,” she said.
The cause, according to a police officer at the scene, was accidental.
Fire crews were seen cleaning up the scene, packing away hoses and equipment.
