Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre to host 37th Alliance Francaise French Film Festival

The Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre will be the only regional venue in WA to host an action-packed five-day festival showcasing French films.
From March 25-29, the BREC will host the 37th Alliance Francaise French Film Festival showcasing 10 films.
Following the recent International Film Festival, BREC executive director Fiona de Garis said she expected Bunbury audiences to be excited for more international films.
“We’re proud to continue as the only regional venue in WA hosting the Alliance Francaise French Film Festival,” she said.
“After the success of our International Film Festival in January, it’s clear audiences here have a real appetite for international cinema.
“This festival is more than just a film screening — it’s a chance to experience another culture and enjoy a little slice of France right here in Bunbury.”
The annual festival is a product of the French Government project started in 1833, Alliance Francaise, which aims to share the French language and culture internationally.
In 1911, the Perth branch opened, and has since taught French to thousands of West Australians while also hosting nearly four decades of film festivals.
The 10 films to be screened throughout the festival will include a range of genres such as detective dramas, science fiction animation, family comedies, and historical romance.
While the films will be screened in French, they will have English subtitles so non-speakers and those new to learning the language can follow along.
The festival’s opening night will be a VIP event hosted at the BREC’s Sky Bar, where those attending will be treated to an elegant French-themed evening before an exclusive screening of Colours Of Time.
Bunbury’s La Pause Miam will cater for the special event, with drinks from Howard Park Wines and macarons from Perth patisserie Maison St Honore.
Tickets for the opening event and the rest of the festival screenings can be bought online.
