Bunbury renters can come up for air, with no quarterly price growth recorded for rentals in the region

In a sliver of good news for Bunbury renters, the latest quarterly housing report showed no price growth for rentals in the region. While Bunbury renters forked out an extra 4.8 per cent over 2025 on top of the previous year’s numbers, an REA Group report shows quarter-on-quarter growth has stagnated. The news comes amid a tide of price hikes across the South West. Additionally, the final Domain quarterly report for 2025 identified Bunbury as the lowest median rental market in Western Australia. Domain chief of research and economics Nicola Powell said despite more positive numbers across Regional WA, renters were still struggling to make ends meet. “The market is no longer moving in one direction. Rent changes now depend heavily on where you live and whether you’re renting a house or a unit,” she said. “However, increased investor activity and ongoing support for first-homebuyers could help ease the shortage of rental homes over time, with the market starting to rebalance in 2026.” While some respite may be taken by Bunbury renters, the South West is still in the thick of a rental crisis with Busselton, Capel, Dardanup and Harvey all in the top 10 for highest median rental price for local government areas of regional WA.
