The businesses of Halifax are delighted with the completion of the new slip lane for vehicles entering the precinct.

After businesses in the precinct complained of witnessing many near-misses, the turning lane – from South Western Highway into the southern end of Halifax Drive hoped to increase safety and improve the ease of access for vehicles.

South West Development Commission chief executive officer Mellisa Teede said the improvements were designed to create a business environment more conducive to growth and investment attraction.

“If we want our local businesses to succeed and support local jobs, then we need to ensure the right infrastructure is in place so they can be as successful as possible,” Ms Teede said.

Bunbury MLA Don Punch said there has never been a more important time to improve road safety.

This was a dangerous intersection that was identified by bushiness owners in Halifax who regularly saw near misses when trucks were trying to pull in,

he said.

The road enhancement component was project-managed by the City of Bunbury, with local contractor JAK Civil engaged to complete the works which involved widening the existing shoulder and constructing the slip lane.
