Goldfielders will glitz up in diamonds and denim this weekend for a fundraising event that will help local breast cancer patients with the costs of receiving treatment.

The annual Something Pink Kalgoorlie fundraiser partners with the Goldfields Women’s Health Care Centre to support local patients with up to $5000 a year.

Katrina Tedge started the Something Pink Kalgoorlie organisation in 2017 alongside her friend Gai Robinson, who has since lost her battle with breast cancer.

“We support our local breast cancer patients — we can give them up to $5000 a year to access treatment in Perth and anything breast cancer-related,” Ms Tedge said.

“Patients can go to the Goldfields Women’s Health Care Centre and complete a very simple application to get financial support for their breast cancer treatment.

“Our money stays local — we keep every cent local.”

The diamonds and denim event will feature live and silent auctions, games of bra pong, a $10,000 raffle, and trophies for the best dressed lady, bloke and group.

Guests can have a bit of fun and put their friends forward to have hair removed from a chosen body part.

“You can nominate a mate to get waxed, and that mate has to meet (the donation) offered in their nomination to not get waxed,” Ms Tedge said.

The Boulder Rotary Club will cook up burgers and snags for purchase.

The fundraiser will be at Kalgoorlie-Boulder Racing Club’s marquee on Saturday from 6.30pm, and a bus will offer free rides to the Kalgoorlie CBD from 10.30pm so guests can get home safely.

More than 170 tickets have already been sold, and limited tickets will be available at the door for $50.

Ms Tedge said the fundraiser would be a “great night of fun”.

“Dress up in your denim and diamonds, come along, have some fun with us for a really great cause,” she said.
