Trent Joshua Brownley: Made threat about police officer’s children after being asked to leave Gold Bar

A 39-year-old father has pleaded guilty to threatening to act unlawfully toward a police officer’s children after he was asked to leave a Kalgoorlie-Boulder nightclub. Trent Joshua Brownley appeared in Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court on Monday where he pleaded guilty to three charges including failing to obey an officer, failing to leave a licensed premises, and making a threat to unlawfully do an act. Const. Kim Sullivan told the court that about 1am on September 29 at the Gold Bar, Brownley was repeatedly asked by security guards to leave the venue, which he ignored and continued turning his back on them. Const. Sullivan said police were then called to the premises to remove the man, which led to Brownley threatening one officer, saying he knew where they lived and that their children were going to get “f….. up”. Defence lawyer Murray Stubbs said his client, who admitted to being under the influence of alcohol on the night, had “hit the bottle hard” since separating from his wife of 25 years about one year ago, and had plans to refer himself to a social service organisation to seek help. Magistrate Paul Lyons advised Brownley to follow through with his plans, after mentioning the “theme” on his record, and sentenced him to a seven-month community-based order, as well as a $400 fine for the failing-to-comply charges.
