Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been hit with new allegations as UK police continue to investigate the former prince.
Police are reportedly now examining claims Mr Mountbatten-Windsor allegedly behaved inappropriately towards a woman at Royal Ascot more than two decades ago.
The alleged incident is said to have occurred during the 2002 Royal Ascot meeting, attended by Queen Elizabeth II and several senior members of the royal family as part of celebrations marking her Golden Jubilee.
According to The Times in the UK, it is not yet known if the allegation over Mr Mountbatten-Windor’s behaviour at Royal Ascot was reported to police at the time or if authorities were informed recently.
The fresh probe comes just days after Thames Valley Police announced they were widening their scope in their investigation, calling for witnesses who can assist with the inquiry into the former prince’s conduct in public office.
The UK police made the extraordinary appeal for witnesses in sexual misconduct claims against former prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor two days ago.
In a move which will further damage the royal family, UK Police released a statement saying they were assessing reports that a woman was taken to Windsor in 2010 for “sexual purposes”.
It is believed the statement relates to reports that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein allegedly trafficked a woman into the UK specifically to have sex with the former prince.
“We have engaged with the woman’s legal representative to confirm that, should she wish to report this to police, it will be taken seriously and handled with care, sensitivity and respect for her privacy and her right for anonymity,” the Thames Valley Police statement said.
“We recognise how difficult it can be to speak about experiences of this nature, and any contact with police will be led by her wishes, when and if she feels ready and able to do so.”
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor is not facing any charges despite being arrest at his home on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk three months ago on what was also his 66th birthday.
He has always maintained his innocence.
