Kwinana Recquatic’s Swim School is making waves after receiving several accolades.

It was named national swim school of the year in the under 1000 lessons weekly category at last month’s Australian Swim Schools Association Awards on the Gold Coast.

The swim school’s Specialised Access Inclusion Lessons program also won the Regional (WA) Award for Inclusive Swim School, making it a national finalist for its tailored one-on-one swimming lessons designed around the goal and abilities of each participant.

Kwinana Recquatic also received two high commendations at the WA Aquatic Recreation Industry Awards presented by the Leisure Institute of WA (Aquatics) last month.

They were in the Watch Around Water Facility of the Year award category and for staff member Kristy Harcourt in the Customer Service Officer of the Year award category.

City of Kwinana mayor Peter Feasey said the SAIL program developed by Recquatic had become a model for inclusive aquatic education and, with the support of Royal Life Saving WA, was being introduced at other centres across the State.

“This national recognition reflects the city’s commitment to providing high-quality, accessible and inclusive swimming education for the local community,” he said.

“It recognises the dedication, passion and professionalism of our Swim School team who make a real difference in people’s lives to help build their confidence and develop life-saving water skills while being active in our community.

“As our community continues to grow, it is clear families trust the Kwinana Recquatic for their swimming lessons, so this award belongs not only to our staff but to the thousands of students and families who are part of our swim school community.”

The Swim School has experienced significant growth over the past decade and now has more than 6300 annual enrolments, from babies to seniors and those with additional needs.
