With the opening of Kennedy Bay’s new Long Point Brewing Co. around the corner, head brewer Jackson Purser gives a sneak peek at what is to come.

Set to open in late June, Mr Purser is currently overseeing the recipe development for a 10-tap line-up and managing day-to-day brewery operations while remaining hands on in production.

Under management of the brewery’s day-to-day operations, fresh beer will sit at the core of the new two-storey establishment.

Alongside kegged beer poured on-site, the brewery will look to produce canned releases, with a focus on getting the product into customers’ hands as fresh as possible.

Locals who connect with the brewery may be privy to when canning runs occur, and if they’re interested, can purchase canned beer directly off the line via the bar.

“Fresh beer is the ethos,” Mr Purser said. “We’ll ensure stocked volumes are kept low so we never distribute old beer

Ideally, he said no beer will be older than three months, especially hoppy styles like IPAs and pale ales, which lose their flavour over time.

“We want attention to detail to not only be in the production process, but also in how we distribute the beer so we know it’s thoughtful and artisan all the way through,” he said.

“When we come on to the scene, we want to have the best beer possible and age is a key metric in that.”

Accommodating up to 500 guests, the brewery and restaurant will also feature a large outdoor playground, and a coffee kiosk operating from sunrise, serving local artisan coffee and light snacks for early visitors.

The brewery also aims to offer brewery tours and tank tasting experiences to visitors, though no plans have been finalised yet.

“We’re excited to set the tone for the area,” he said.

“We’re in the right position; the venue is family oriented and we’re going to have some really good vibes and cool music and events.”

Long Point Brewing Co. is a joint venture between Shane Wormall, of Wormall Group, and West Australian Beach & Golf Resort (WABGR).

The brewery has been sharing updates on social media of the building progress.

The building includes a massive kitchen with a pizza oven, sweeping views of the ocean and a big balcony.
