$14m upgrades: new operating theatre at Collie hospital brings world-class facilities a step closer
Collie residents will now have access to a broader range of medical treatments with work on the town’s new operating theatre now reaching practical completion.
The multi-million-dollar upgrades to the Collie Health Service include the newly completed operating theatre complex, as well as patient recovery bays, consultation rooms, telehealth rooms, reception and waiting room.
These works form part of the $14.7 million investment by the State Government to ensure the Collie community has access to world-class healthcare facilities closer to home.
Other major infrastructure works in the redevelopment will include upgrades to heating, cooling and ventilation systems, replacement of hot water systems, upgraded electrical systems and upgraded car park lighting.
Collie-Preston MLA Jodie Hanns said the operating theatre reaching completion represented an important milestone for the broader upgrades to Collie hospital.
“Ensuring access to world-class healthcare in our area is a key priority for the McGowan Government and the redevelopment of the Collie Health Service will deliver huge benefits for patients and their families,” she said.
Bunbury builder Perkins WA was selected in March last year to complete these next stages of the upgrades, with Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson at the time highlighting Perkins’ knowledge of the South West and the need for regional residents to have access to “quality health care close to home”.
