Alleged serial offender back behind bars with fresh charges only a month after being released from prison

An alleged serial sex pest who was serving a suspended prison sentence for exposing himself in front of families is back behind bars only a month after he was released from prison. Maitland James Anderson, 56, appeared via video link from Bunbury Regional Prison in Bunbury Magistrates Court on Thursday to face a string of fresh charges he is accused of committing while serving a suspended prison sentence. He has been charged with one count of aggravated common assault, one count of possessing cannabis and four counts of breaching a misconduct restraining order. The four misconduct restraining orders ban Mr Anderson from being near Bunbury Centrepoint Shopping Centre after the court was told of numerous antisocial and violent incidents at the centre, and in particular within Liquorland. Court documents show one of the alleged breaches came a mere four days after he was released from prison. Mr Anderson was not required to enter pleas during his hearing, and his lawyer requested the matter be adjourned for three weeks to examine the evidence. Mr Anderson will remain in Bunbury Regional Prison until his next appearance on July 18.
