Bunbury animal lovers called on to have a ball and help save lives at important SAFE fundraising event

Bunbury animal lovers are being given the chance to “help save lives” simply by having a good night out. SAFE Bunbury is hosting its annual ball on Saturday, its biggest fundraising event of the year, at the South West Italian Club and is urging people to come along and get in the spirit. Funds will be put towards vital medical checks and procedures for some of the region’s most vulnerable little animals. SAFE secretary Ellen Pickering said the event had a crucial part to play in allowing the organisation to help animals back to a full bill of health. “The funds are mainly used for medical costs, which are our biggest expense in saving animals,” she said. “Your $35 for a ticket can help us save lives.” This year’s theme is “around the world”, which Ms Pickering said meant guests would get a small taste of travel after two years constrained by border restrictions. “This year we thought because of COVID we could make it a trip away without getting away,” she said. “We just hope everyone has a good time.” The ball, which is sponsored by Blair Street Vet Hospital, will feature more than $5000 worth of prizes, a silent auction and a DJ.
