Bunbury Regional Art Gallery calling for Indigenous creatives ahead of Noongar Country 2022 exhibition

The South West’s leading Indigenous art exhibition is calling for entries from talented Noongar creatives ahead of its opening later this year. The Noongar Country Exhibition hosted by the Bunbury Regional Art Gallery has opened entries for all Indigenous artists living and working on Noongar Country. The annual event spotlights the creative work by established and emerging Indigenous artists in the Noongar region. The Noongar people come from the South West corner of WA, with boundaries going as far north as Geraldton and to Esperance in the south. This year’s theme Kaarla Koort-ak: Woonya, Moortr, Boodja— which translates to Hearts on Fire: Love, Family, Country — invites contemporary Aboriginal artists to explore ideas which unite community. The theme aims to evoke ideas of love, families and the love of boodja and how it reflects the past, present and future of Indigenous people. All entries must be submitted by Sunday, March 6, with the exhibition running from May 28 to August 21.
