Digi-tech future: Historical ports network awarded for digitally-enabled smart network supply chain

The South West port of Bunbury, with its rich history dating back far before its official creation in 1909, has been awarded at a national level for making leaps into maritime management’s digital-technology future. The Southern Ports network, which includes the ports of Bunbury, Albany and Esperance, was awarded the Asset Management Resilience Award at an awards ceremony in Sydney last week. Held by the Asset Management Council of Australia, the award highlighted the achievements by Southern Ports to radically transformed its asset management systems into a fully-integrated and digitally-enabled ISO 55000-consistent system. The shift to these international standards has allowed the ports network to secure a prime position to thrive in the smart, technology-enabled supply chains of the future. Southern Ports CEO, Steve Lewis said it was incredible recognition for the organisation and the work that had been put into transforming this system. “This is fantastic recognition for our Port Development team and everyone that has been involved in the development of our asset management system, which is the first of its kind in Australia,” Mr Lewis said. “The system delivers unrivalled levels of intelligence in near real-time — enabling us to rapidly prepare, predict and pivot to continuously enhance asset and organisational resilience over time.”
