Giddy up for club
The Capel Horse and Pony Club has received a $3750 grant from the Capel Shire Council as part of a community support scheme.
The scheme was established to support clubs, associations and sporting bodies within Capel and help them overcome the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Capel Horse and Pony Club secretary Jenni Brown said the funding would go towards a new trailer to help move equipment around the club.
“We are a not-for-profit sporting organisation and we fundraise throughout the year, so this additional funding has given us the opportunity to purchase something we normally wouldn’t be able to afford,” Ms Brown said.
Capel shire councillor Rosina Mogg said she was glad the Capel Horse and Pony Club applied for the grant as many local clubs suffered through the pandemic. Cr Mogg said many clubs did not receive revenue from normal sources, such as membership fees or fundraisers.
“With the whole disruption due to COVID, it is fantastic that these grants are able to help those clubs and sporting groups,” she said.
