INXS tribute to rock Bunbury for the very first time this November

Aussie rock fans will have the chance to unleash the Devil Inside when globally renowned INXS tribute band The Australian INXS Show comes to Bunbury later this year. The Melbourne-born six piece will take over Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre on November 2 as part of a 10-month national tour. Despite touring internationally for the past 10 years, front man Dellacoma Rio said the group could never be torn apart from bringing the show back to it’s birthplace. “There is something really special about playing in Australia,” he said. “Whether it’s with the INXS show, or with my original music, I’ve played right around the world and it’s pretty cool when you get to come home and actually play in front of home crowds, whether that be your home State or just on home soil.” Bearing a striking resemblance to original lead singer Michael Hutchence, Rio will be joined on-stage by guitarist and saxophonist Rob Moody, drummer Noel Tenny, bass player Sam McAinch, keyboardist Adrian Sorgini and guitarist Adam Heath to perform 90 minutes of smash hits from the seven-time ARIA award-winning group. And while they are by no means the Original Sin, Rio assures the group has put in the leg-work to make the show a New Sensation – resemblant of what the band may be like should they still be going today. “We believe that if INXS was still rolling around today, they would be making use of technology in the same way that bands today are creating a whole video show to go along with their live performance,” he said. “We’ve made sure that every member of the band is playing the exact parts musically that their player was playing. “We’ve tried to put ourselves in a position where, when you’re looking at us, even though we know that we’re not INXS, we want things to happen naturally, in a way that they may have happened if the band was still going around today.” He said the show aimed to transport listeners back to a time when INXS was topping the charts, or when they themselves may have experienced the group live. “Music has this incredible power to capture a memory and all of a sudden when you hear a certain song you can taste, you can smell, you can see these things that have been captured inside that memory,” he said. “That’s one of the things that we’re trying to do with the show is give people the same experience. “We’re not just trying to do what they did, we’re trying to help people feel the way that they felt, or imagined they would feel, when they heard these songs live.” The tour will be Rio’s first time in the South West, the singer saying he is looking forward to his visit and seeing how people “connect” with INXS music. “I‘m really looking forward to coming down and checking out Bunbury and everything it has to offer,” he said. “We love to try and really get to know the places we visit, go to a local supermarket or bakery, just wander around and see how the locals live so we can connect with them. “What do these people talk about? How do people in Bunbury connect to the INXS music? I mean, I don’t know that because I’ve never been there but you can get a little bit of a vibe for the town just by walking the streets and connecting with people.” The first show of the group’s WA leg, they will go on to perform in Albany, Perth and Fremantle.
