South West locals come together for seventh annual Bunbury PrideFest celebrations

Leschenault Inlet foreshore was a sea of rainbow on Saturday afternoon, as Bunbury locals flocked to the Graham Bricknell Memorial Music Shell for the annual Bunbury PrideFest celebrations. Now in its seventh year, the day celebrated the LGBTQIA+ community, promoting the inclusivity, expression and awareness of the people of diverse sexual and gender living in the South West region. Organised by OUT South West in partnership with the City of Bunbury, attendees were treated to market stalls, food trucks and performances by local musicians Maya Ixchell, Veruca Moon and Cael McLeish with special guest performances from drag artists Macka Roni, Cindy Crosscheck and Esther Eve. Bunbury youth were also given the chance to celebrate with the inaugural Youth Pride taking place last Thursday at Bunbury Regional Art Gallery. The event, organised by local LGBTQIA+ youth, Headspace Bunbury and WAAC Freedom State, featured interactive art displays, performances by local drag artists, youth DJ sets and a lipsync competition.
