A trio of big-name South West Slammers have recommitted to the club, just a month out from the start of the season. Superstar guard Brody England will stay with the Slammers for another season, while a pair of local youngsters — Cody Hill and Rhys Barrett have also signed on. The confirmation marks a significant step in the club’s NBL1 West preparations, after it was revealed last month big man Leigh Rickwood-Pitt was headed to the Mandurah Magic and all-star Mitch Keller would miss the first part of the season with injury. England battled injuries for much of last season and suited up just four times for the Slammers, averaging a lean five points, 2.5 rebounds and less than one assist a game. But the 22-year-old has a resume only matched by his highlights reel and will be a welcome addition to Shane Goff’s roster if fully fit. Barrett averaged more than 11 points a game through 20 appearances last season as his development took a leap, while Hill put up nearly nine points per game.
