World’s greatest shave unveils amazing family coincidence
The desire for a new look has turned into an incredible coincidence for Ashleigh Tua, who ended up shaving her head on the 30th anniversary of her grandmother’s passing from leukemia.
Undertaking the world’s greatest shave at the Last Slice Sports Bar last Friday, on March 18, Miss Tua made the amazing discovery after sharing details about her event online.
“I’ve always wanted to shave my head,” she said.
“I don’t know what drew me to the date but when I was looking at days to do it I was just really drawn to that day and after posting about it my family was like ‘that’s really weird, that’s nan’s anniversary.’”
Her grandmother passed away nearly 18 months prior to Ashleigh being born, making the coincidence even greater.
A massive fundraising effort was behind the endeavor which raised $5040 for charity, from community donations and a raffle comprising of prizes from 21 local businesses.
Ms Tua said she was overwhelmed by the response she has received.
“It’s been pretty insane . . . I’m blown away by the generosity of some local businesses some of them I knew but others I didn’t, and over 2000 worth of prize,” she said.
Just minutes before she took the plunge, she expressed her nerves over the change.
“Honestly I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous, I have no idea what my head looks like so it’s going to be interesting to say the least.”
