AFL enthusiasts will have the incredible opportunity to wine and dine with two of the game’s best this weekend as big names from rival teams roll into Bunbury.

Fremantle Dockers legend David Mundy will be making a special guest appearance at The Hollow Beach Bar & Grill on Saturday February 25, alongside West Coast Eagles great Glen Jakovich.

Fans will be able to hear the pair share candid stories of the trials and tribulations of their AFL careers along with the opportunity to ask their own questions in a Q&A panel.

The event will also host auctions for exclusive memorabilia, as well as the opportunity for fans to get photos with both Mundy and Jakovich.

Affectionately known as ‘Barra’, Mundy played 376 games across 18 seasons with the Fremantle Dockers since he was picked up at No. 19 in the 2003 national draft.

He got his start with the Murray Bushrangers at the TAC Cup before moving to WA in 2004 where he spent his first season with the Dockers playing WAFL for Subiaco.

Mundy made his debut in the round six match against Melbourne and would go on to be a one-club player when he retired at the end of the 2022 AFL season following Fremantle’s semi-final loss to Collingwood.

His honours include being the second Fremantle player to reach 300 games after Matthew Pavlich, serving as captain in 2016, being nominated for the AFL Rising Star in 2005, winning the club’s Doig Medal in 2010, winning the Glendinning-Allen Medal in 2013, receiving All-Australian honours in 2015 and becoming a Fremantle life member in 2012.

Jakovich played 276 games with the West Coast Eagles, where he became a two-time premiership player in 1992 and 1994 and was a four-time club champion in 1993, 1994, 1995 and 2000.

The Australian Football Hall of Famer also received All-Australian honours in 1994 and 1995, won the Glendinning-Allen Medal in 2001 and was also an inaugural inductee in West Coast Eagles’ hall of fame in 2011.

It comes as Sydney Swans greats Josh Kennedy and Jude Bolton ventured into town for a special guest appearance at the Bunbury Trotting Club on Wednesday, as part of Kennedy’s “Farewell Tour”.

The special guest appearances follow a trend of AFL legends rolling into the South West city over the past few months, with the likes of Ben Cousins, Dom Sheed, Will Schofield, John Worsfold and Wayne Carey all making appearances at local pubs.

Tickets are available via Eventbrite.
