Australia Day: Eaton residents reflect, respect and celebrate with fun-filled breakfast on foreshore

As the sun shone down on the Eaton foreshore, Dardanup Shire residents gathered to reflect, respect and celebrate Australia Day. The Shire of Dardanup hosted an Australia Day breakfast last Thursday, provided by the Eaton & Millbridge Lions Club with proceeds being donated to those affected by the Kimberley floods. Along with the breakfast, the Shire welcomed 10 new Australian citizens and celebrated the efforts of several community members. Teenager Raya Noonan was awarded the Youth Community Citizen of the Year, Ashlea Bluett won Community Citizen of the Year, the Dardanup Heritage Collective won Community Group of the Year, while Tony Rooney was also acknowledged for his ongoing community efforts. There was also plenty to enjoy for the young and young at heart with face-painting, a bouncy castle, live music and a petting farm on offer throughout the morning. The Eaton breakfast was one of three Australia Day events hosted by the Shire of Dardanup, with Dardanup and Burekup also holding community breakfasts to mark the Australia Day public holiday.
